Born and raised on the island of Oahu, Hokule’a is proud to call this sacred land in the pacific, her home. Her earliest memories are filled with being drawn to spirituality, exploring creative arts, and finding expression through movement. Studying ballet, contemporary jazz, and hip hop for 15 years under the direction of Marcelo Pacleb, she soon became a teacher of dance to students of all ages. Dance and spirituality have taken her to many places across the globe. Throughout her travels, she encountered rich cultures, heard stories, and felt the heart of the people and the places she visited. These experiences weave together her understanding of the diverse complexity of humanity with a single thread, revealing a beautiful tapestry of oneness.
Yoga came into Hokule’a's life when she was seeking healing for her body, mind, and Spirit. She engaged yoga as a transcendental embodiment practice that led to a deeper union with God and her true Self. After completing a 200HR YTT with Kara Miller and Dorian Wright at Power Yoga Hawaii, she decided that the natural response was to share what yoga has been to her with others. As a teacher, her goal is to hold a space where people are unified with themselves, their community, and something deeper within. Her classes focus on a vigorous vinyasa flow, empowerment through self-study, guided meditation, and pranayama exercises. She hopes to be a pure reflection of her name, which is to be a guiding star for those wanting to find their way home.
