Sam began practicing yoga in 2009 in the DC-area as a competitive gymnast. As the story goes, she said she would become a yoga instructor after her first yoga class – and here we are! Sam found that yoga was a wonderful antidote to strenuous gymnastics practices, and although she was initially drawn to yoga for the physical aspect, she became increasingly interested in the mindfulness aspect of yoga.
In 2017, she became a 200-hour RYT from Cambio Yoga Studio in Colorado Springs. Samantha also holds a master's degree in Sport and Performance Psychology and incorporates sport psychology principles and techniques into her classes including imagery, mindfulness, breathwork, and self-talk awareness. Sam teaches a slow flow vinyasa class where students are invited to mindfully challenge their bodies on (and off) the mat.
As a recent transplant in Hawaii, when she’s not teaching classes, she enjoys surfing, hiking, cooking, and watching movie trailers. She invites yogis of any level to come learn about themselves on the mat!
